A Decade in the Lead
Team BMC Pro Tri
Long-distance triathlon is more than just a physical challenge. When they race half- and full-ironman races, athletes and coaches don't leave any stone unturned. And making sure the bike set-up is perfect is probably the most important part of a long-distance triathlon.
That's where our collaboration with the BMC Pro Tri comes into play, a partnership cemented in creating speed to make sure the team uses the best and fastest bikes the world has ever seen.
Not your average tri squad
Take 7 of the world's most prolific long-distance triathlon athletes. Lucy Buckingham, Kristian Høgenhaug, Chris Leiferman, Thor Bendix Madsen, Clément Mignon, Lucy Byram and Sam Dickinson. Add to that our industry-leading products and dedicated team support, and you get a team motivated to continue its legacy as a world leader.
Over one hundred fifty wins, including the Ironman World Championships, are proof of that concept.
A decade in the lead
Since 2014, we've been committed to the BMC Pro Tri team. From supplying the world's fastest bikes and our engineering and technical know-how, we're committed 1,000% and keen to always go the extra mile for the team.
Ultimately, we can only better understand their needs and stay at the cutting edge of cycling technology by working closely with them.
Aero is king
Racing long-distance triathlons means swimming 2-4 km, cycling for 90 to 180 km, and then running a half or full marathon on the back of it.
Aerodynamics plays a crucial role in gaining or losing a race for these distances. That's why these riders are the ultimate test bed for new engineering and performance designs and why their feedback is crucial for us to create speed.
Speedmachine is their beast of choice. The machine that will allow them to keep breaking course records and win world titles.

Olympian Lucy Buckingham (nee Hall) is known for being one of the fastest swimmers in the sport. She represented Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic Games aged just 20 and then went on to make the Commonwealth team for Glasgow 2014. Lucy has since made a successful transition to long distance with one of the best seasons of her career in 2021 winning an impressive series of half distance events. In 2023, she won the IM70.3s in Warsaw and Knokke-Heist.
Chris Leiferman is one of the most exciting talents on the long-distance triathlon scene. After a strong top 10 debut at the 2019 Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, Leiferman went on to win his 4th Ironman of his career by taking the Ironman Florida title in 2020. The 2022 started with a bang for Leiferman taking 4th place at the Ironman World Championship in St George. Leiferman continued to perform in 2023, winning the Ironman Coeur d’Alene, qualifying for the Ironman World Championships in 2024.
Kristian Høgenhaug burst onto the scene in 2019 winning Ironman Hamburg and finishing 2nd at the ETU Long Distance European Championships in Almere. Kristian is a super biker and really demonstrated his potential mixing it up with the big hitters when he made his professional debut at the Ironman World Championship in 2019. Kristian has gone from strenght to strenght ever since and had a phenomenal 2021 season crowning himself ITU Long Distance World Champion in Almere and becoming vice-European Ironman Champion in Frankfurt. In 2023, the Dane claimed another medal in the same competition, this time in Hamburg.
At the age of 23 Thor Madsen made a strong first impression in the triathlon scene. In 2022, the Danish super biker finished 8th at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in St. George. One year later, Madsen got another top-10 in the Half Ironman World Championships in Lathi.
New to BMC Pro Tri in 2024 is the current World Champion WT Long Distance Clément Mignon. The Frenchman also won the Ironman in his home country last year - Nice - and finished 9th in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii in 2022. Mignon will be hunting for more success - particularly in the World Ironman Championships - on the BMC Speedmachine.
Lucy Byram, winner of the Clash Miami, Challenge Puerto Varas and Challenge Wales in 2023, gets her first experiences on the BMC Speedmachine in 2024. The Yorkshire-based Brit finds herself united with her fellow countrywoman Lucy to compete in the biggest long-distance triathlons in the world this year.
The last (but not least) new addition to Team BMC Pro Tri’s roster in 2024 is another Yorkshireman: Sam Dickinson. The Brit is in the peak of his career while he already claimed 16 World Triathlon Podiums, and 7 career wins. Dickinson is committed to what he says ‘reach his potential’ on the BMC Speedmachine, particularly because ‘BMC Pro Tri has a proven track record of transitioning short course athletes into world class long-distance triathletes’.
